Wooden floors are very durable, but sometimes they need a little help to look their best! Our restoration process can retain some of the patina that has developed over time. The result will be a beautifully refurbished flooring that, due to the natural ageing process, might just turn out better than a new floor ever could.
Preparation
Before our team can get your floor looking as beautiful as it’s supposed to, we have to get rid of all the marks the wood has sustained over the years. We’ll strip off any old finish then get to work, carefully and painstakingly sanding the floor. This will remove dents, scratches, marks, and other blemishes. By the time we’re done, the floor will be ready for restoration.
Restoration
Once all the wood is sanded down, it’s time for us to inspect the floor as it is, finding any areas where the wood is damaged. Where possible, we’ll repair damaged pieces, but the option is always there to replace them with new wood, treated to match the beautiful, natural patina of the existing planks. This will leave your floor ready for the final stage of the process.
Finishing
Your newly sanded, repaired, and restored floor now needs to be finished. We do this by applying an appropriate oil or water-based stain, followed by a varnish or oil that will protect the wood. Once the varnish is dry, we’ll buff it down lightly and apply a second coat, then a third. This multi-stage varnishing process ensures your floor is as durable as possible. Floor's usually need to be restored every 3-5 years in order to keep their appearance and durability.
